Volunteer Opportunities Dear Volunteer Angels, Happy New Year, Everyone! We are wishing all of you a blessed 2008. We certainly feel blessed to have so many of ya’ll as our faithful volunteers. We pray that you receive many times over the amount of blessings that you give. We were planning to have our picnic in January, but somehow our weather did not “get the memo” and we had our coldest, windiest time of the season, so we had to cancel. We will keep you posted as to when we schedule another gathering. I am proud to announce to you the promotion list for our “Angels”: White Wings Silver Wings Gold Wings White Halo (60 hrs) (120 hrs) (180 hrs) (500 hrs) Elinor Fischer Carol Sharo Judy Thompson Doris Fritsche Joe Riley George Waters Pat Neves Liz Munz Mary Masters Mary Ann Riley Pam McCarthy Peg Blissman Pat Barry We honestly would not be able to have the programs that are Lifeline Family Center were it not for all of you and your dedication. Thank you for saying “Yes, Lord,” to this ministry. All too soon we will be without so many of our seasonal volunteers. However, our nursery will still need to operate at full steam as we have residents who are either students during the summer or working full-time in their career fields preparing to graduate from Lifeline Family Center. Even when the girls graduate their children are still welcome to use our nursery until they are ready for K-4 kindergarten. It is a busy place! We are looking now for ideas on how we will have enough volunteer staff to supplement the nursery staff during the 6 month span of time from May thru October. So, if anyone has signed up for other capacities, but finds they have extra time (and energy!) or has an idea for us, please call me or stop in to share. Thank you again for your time, resources and most of all, prayers. Cheryl Buonocore Volunteer Coordinator Calling All Program Volunteers!Thank you, all of our “program-related” volunteers who have been attending the Volunteer Staff Meetings held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. These are valuable times of interaction for those of you who are GED Lab Instructors, Life Skill Teachers, Craft Instructors, Mentors, Nursery Volunteers, Relief Houseparents, and Transportation Volunteers. If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of these recently, the format has changed significantly. Each volunteer has about three minutes to share what the girls are being taught in their class. This is vitally important for good communication between the departments. Thus equipped you will know how better to respond to situations that arise with our moms and babies. Please make every effort to attend these meetings, (the next two are Nov. 28 and Jan 23) …it will make each of our jobs easier!
You Can Make A Difference
Our
volunteers realize that everyone leaves footprints on the
sands of time. Our prints are made by the imprints of our lives on
others. A person is remembered for the weight of his or her
character. For marks of accomplishment. For shapes of kindness. For
length of compassion. For width of personal warmth. For generosity.
For values.
When
we leave positive impressions behind, we enhance the lives of those
we touch and a part of us lives on through them. We give them
footprints to follow. Lifeline Volunteers have the opportunity to change the course of America by changing the course of one life. They have the opportunity to contribute their time and life experiences. Our volunteers are truly ANGELS! They call themselves Angels WINGS, Angels WORKING IN GOD’S SERVICE. There is training, monthly informative meetings and an opportunity to participate in a merit system to earn “wings” and “halos” through hours served. How You Can Help
