“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace…” (Romans 15:13).
We pray that you are well! As we are all a bit numb by what has just transpired in our nation and in the world, we do not have time to linger in our losses…or lose hope! I know we are all keeping the unrest that our country is experiencing in prayer and praying for justice.
During the recent COVID-19 lockdown Lifeline Family Center experienced the births of three babies and welcomed our first not pregnant new mom to our home. In November our Board made the decision that we needed to expand our ministry to include young homeless women who were no longer pregnant but had an infant. Our first mom to receive this blessing called us from the hospital 20 minutes after her baby girl was born. She also had a one-year old son that a friend was watching while she was in the hospital. In the midst of COVID-19, along with our four new babies, we welcomed this little family to Lifeline Family Center with open arms.
Crisis do not come to a halt when we add a pandemic to the mix. All that happens is fear is multiplied and finding solutions become more difficult. Even without our wonderful volunteers that we rely on so strongly, Lifeline Family Center did not miss a beat during the worst of it. At one point we had six moms and 10 children under three years of age residing in our Jerry-Dee home, along with our houseparents! There was barely enough room around the dinner table!
I wish I could say that we were always filled with joy and peace through it all. Not so. But I can say that faith and hope kept us going. We are finally pulling all the pieces of ministry together once again. When we have our monthly Volunteer Orientations the comment that we hear repeatedly is, “There is so much more going on here than we ever thought!” Along with our two homes, we have a full, top of the line childcare center, a learning center, and Life skills learning rooms. A holistic approach to the needs of single moms was our goal 24 years ago, and together with you, that is what we have accomplished. “A cord of three strands is not easily broken…” It has held even through COVID-19! Praise be to God!
Right now our ministry finances through donations are slowly being restored. We thank God for the many who continued to give even out of their need. Please join us in giving thanks and praying that as folks and our many church partners pull their lives and businesses back together, they will still be able to supply our needs. We know who is at the helm of Lifeline Family Center and it certainly isn’t Kathy Miller! Through the body of believers our God is faithful to provide all our needs.
Thank you for being part of our family and for sharing your love with us!
God bless you for caring.
